Is there a wedding venue in Toowoomba's C.B.D. with a country homestead feel ?

Image
A lot of newly engaged couples in Toowoomba love the being on the land, but your friends are city far away or in the outback and it’s hard to organise a country feel wedding but have the convenience of a city.   Toowoomba is the gateway to the Darling Downs and surrounded by famer and the rural lifestyle. Trying to find he perfect wedding venue is not an easy task.    It's almost impossible to find a wedding venue in Toowoomba that has the old-world charm and still be in walking distance to night life, that has excellent parking and is a incredible location for your wedding photos. You must have a venue with all these features is impossible to find. But we can’t forget important things like gorgeous set up fine food and with a wine cellar that would make any wine lover weak at the knees. You have so many ideas in mind for you wedding but you want to keep it convenient for all your guests who need accommodation after a long day of celebrating your wonderfu...

This shoot incorporates both as these peoples personality and I love incorporating couples personality into their photo shoots. It shows who they are as individuals and how they like to interact with their world. This engagement shoot was no exception. We used the ever popular Toowoomba's Queens Park . Late in the afternoon for that soft golden light. Leslie is top bloke and he is a fan of Captain America . There some cool photos with Leslie showing off some his memorabilia. I did composite where I included some of the Avengers I did this for free because he is such a fun. I think he is a bigger fan than me so it was a labour of love. But it wasn't all Leslie and his love of the Avengers. They are both NRL fans. Leslie is a North Queensland Cowboys and Mel is a Brisbane Broncos fan. Check out their slideshow. Here is their gallery.

Brett and Rebecca

Image
Over spring I have been doing so many engagement shoots. They are really becoming very popular. Here is one did in September in Queens Park Toowoomba. The lovely couple are Brett and Rebecca. I met this couple at the Highfeilds wedding Expo" which is hosted by Event Illusions a local wedding hire company which based here in Toowoomba. Queens Park is always poplar with young couples its located in the middle of Toowoomba, so its always easy to find a car park. We did this session a week before Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers which is major tourist event here in Toowoomba. The  Toowoomba Regional Council do a awesome job with all parks and gardens. The late afternoon light always makes for beautiful photos. It was great to see it was a couple shoot, even though they had a beautiful daughter, wo did manage to sneak in and steal the attention. It was great that they focused on them as couple. Of course it was relaxed and we had lots of fun. Its exactly one today ...

The Geyhound I met.

Image
The other I was out working on a personal project. I was with Madelynn Osborne who is a very talented model from Toowoomba. We were at the Toowoomba velodrome trying out a few ideas. While we there we met Melissa who had her beautiful grey hound Chloe.  I was amazed by Chloe's beautiful nature. This was a fantastic dog. She was friendly playful and very loyal to Melissa who loves Chloe. Melissa did dote on Chloe and was training and socialising her on a warm summers afternoon.   Melissa had her 2 year old daughter there as well and Chloe was gentle and trusting of the toddler.   My previous experience with Greyhounds wasn't terribly positive. I had a uncle who would race them during the 1970's. There I was told that hey were dangerous and couldn't be trusted and if you ran they would chase you down and bite you. This could of been a uncle teasing a very young me but it did leave that greyhounds weren't to be loved....

Denns and Tyanna had their wedding close to sunset gave me the opportunity to use the soft golden light.  Dennis & Tyanna have terrific kids who always come close to stealing the show. of course they had the eldest daughter as their flower girl. Their has so much charm that at times she almost stole the show.  When you are planning you wedding think of when you will be hav...

Cake Smash

Image
Baby Cake Smash This is a cake smash I did recently to celebrate Nick Morrison to celebrate his first birthday. His mum made the cutest set in their back yard. Kris and Koral wanted to remember their second son’s birthday Nick Morrison. I wanted Nick just be kid and play and eat the cake as kid would. I didn’t pose Nick or his parents just roam around the back yard and have fun.   Nick is a cute and has beautiful nature and with his mums gorgeous outdoor set this was an easy and fun shoot. Toowoomba turned on the warm spring weather so Nick could have an outdoor bath. I wasn’t just a great photo opportunity but practical as well because Nick had cake all over himself. It was really exciting to watch Nick play in his backyard and celebrate his birthday. Nick might not remember this happening but his parents will and I will too. During Kris and Korals design consultation, this where they decide what wall they would like to buy. Their hardest decision what which ph...

Dennis and Tyanna at the Japanese Gardens Toowoomba

This is a engagement shoot I did at Toowoomba Japanese Gardens near Toowoomba’s USQ “University of Southern Queensland”. It was a beautiful winters day, not cold just cool late in the afternoon to get beautiful soft light.     I met Dennis and Tyanna at the Highfeilds Wedding Expo and we talk about heir important day. It was a week later when they called me and booked their engagement shoot.   “Getting engaged is important for Dennis and I” Tyanna says “but its also to photograph our kids because its special day for them too” As a photographer I feel that engagement shots are important. This is the last time will be photographed as individuals before they become joined when they are married. Marriage is not only a beginning but its also a ending. Its unique time when your engaged its when you are excited and hopeful and before the and thework begins. Dennis and Tyanna were lucky enough to be able to bring her parents along to The...

Six degrees of collaboration

Six degrees of collaboration . Here are 3 artists from Toowoomba who work very differently in different mediums to to collaborate together to create ‘six degrees of collaboration’. This was the exhibit at The Grid Ruthven st Toowoomba.   Jack Atley, Fancy Darling and Thomas Neal have spent the last six weeks working closely together. "We all have a different approach to art ," Jack says. "Tom makes stuffed toys. Fancy paints and draws and etches. I make unique 3D digital sculptures." "Most artists develop a visual shorthand we communicate ideas with," Jack explains. "We've taken each other's visual metaphors, thrown them in a blender, and re-interpreted them individually and collaboratively." Jack Atley https://www.facebook.com/jackatley?fref=ts   got   the idea from   Tunisian collaborative painting style to create the exhibition. "As you do a collaboration you tend to lose control over the art. The art becomes i...
